We got quotes from 3 different contractors shortly after purchasing the home as we were looking to get started ASAP. Antonio and Jonathan from Timber General were far and away the team that instilled the most confidence in the work we were looking to do. Upon their initial visit, they were taking measurements and shortly after, had 3D renderings of ideas for different spaces within the house. The estimate they provided us with was very detailed and we felt the most complete, which alleviated a lot of our concerns as they knew the amount of work that needed to be done given their experience. Prior to starting work, they provided us with a Gantt chart to give us a rough guideline of time frames and what to expect over the course of the next 12 - 14 weeks. They worked to get all necessary permits around the holidays and started demo almost right away. Timber General assisted us further with the process by providing us with a design consultant to help us with cabinetry, tiles, hardware, and countertops. Ultimately - all existing radiators in the house were removed and a new HVAC system was installed where one had not previously existed. One full, one half bath and kitchen were entirely redesigned, walls removed with new beams installed, all floors resurfaced and refinished, ceilings/walls painted, new plumbing, electrical, new hot water heater... There was no shortage of work to be done and Antonio did a great job managing the project every step of the way. We had never taken on a project of this scale previously and everything went as smoothly as possible, in large part because we enlisted Timber General Construction to do the job. I had already given them 5 stars, but I'd add more if I could :) We used Timber Construction this summer for our full kitchen remodel, and now that we've settled in and taken the time to get used to everything, I'd like to share our experience! First, the price was great. We asked for a complete redesign: gutting the kitchen, moving appliance locations, closing up windows, adding windows, adding hardwoods, etc. We had 4 quotes and they came in THOUSANDS less than a couple other quotes, and had a much more professional design plan than the quote that came in cheaper. The design process was aided by their wonderful designer, Priscila, who is very responsive and really took the time to learn what style we were going for. I had a pretty specific vision, and she really worked to make sure we achieved it, including finding THE tile I was looking for, and ensuring all elements (cabinets, countertops, flooring, hardware) would harmonize together. When it came time to renovate, the team was timely, courteous, and trustworthy. They were really sweet with my young kids, especially Lucas, which is so important when they're in your house every day! Everyone who went through a reno told me to beware of delays, but everything went really smoothly. Timber completely transformed our kitchen from a dark, cramped space into a beautiful, bright, functional one. We love the quality of the cabinets and hardware, the tiled backsplash is a work of art, and the new windows make it so much lighter and brighter. The team also did a great job covering up the old windows and replacing the vinyl siding so it looks like it's always been like this from the exterior. I'm also very impressed by the flooring. They not only replaced our old tiled floor with new hardwood, but also refinished existing (90s orange) hardwood in our living and dining rooms, and it all flows seamlessly together. We've now been living in it for two months, and I will still regularly put on the undercabinet lighting in the evening, open up drawers in the glow, and just sigh, "It's so PRETTY!" A couple minor things they could improve upon: There were some gaps in communication between the project manager and the owner/lead carpenter, the biggest one regarding our hood. The PM had to sign off on the hood insert, since it was not returnable, and I'm not sure who ordered the decorative hood to go over it, but it didn't fit, so there's now a 1 inch panel below the cover to accommodate the insert. It looks fine enough, but obviously if you're spending $$$ you'd like the insert to fit flush. So I'd recommend getting all appliance decisions approved by Antonio :) Additionally, I LOVE the main team, but I did not care for one of the electricians they used. The lighting looks great, but our switches don't make sense--the light over the kitchen sink is turned on by a switch in the hallway, not the switches by the sink. There IS a switch by the sink that I'd love the kitchen sink light to be connected to, but it goes to a garbage disposal that we repeatedly said we don't have/have never had (we have a septic tank!). We asked the electrician if he could rewire, but he basically said "it is what it is", so now we're planning to hire our own electrician for a brand new kitchen (and to replace a sconce that was broken during work and never replaced). We're really happy we went with Timber, and would recommend them to anyone looking to remodel. Thank you, Antonio, Jonathan, Priscila, Lucas, and all at Timber GC for our dream kitchen!"
